11. Evolution of a High Key Portrait Shoot

For the why of this tutorial see my other "Evolution" tutorial.

Just as in the other tutorial we used a tear sheet from this month's Glamour magazine for our inspiration, but I decided to do this in high key rather than low key. First the tear sheet. Several things I don't care for in this iamge is the straight arm and leg. Maybe this is OK for a fashion image but I don't like it for a portrait, and neither did Bree!

Next we shot a new zebra card because this is an entirely different set of lights than what we used on the other evolution tutorial's images.

Then we posed and lit Bree as I felt the image should be. I forgot to reset the aperture however and the first image was overexposed.
It is a good idea to look at the back of the camera after every capture. Since I did, I discovered the mistake and stopped the aperture down to the correct (main light reading) aperture.
I then looked at her right hand and found I didn't like they way it was posed, so we changed it.
I wasn't sure I liked the way I had either hand posed so I changed both of them this time.
